Tamiya Pershing build

Post by paulc »

Hi folks couple of questions regarding the Tamiya pershing. Apart from upgrading the wheel bearings and the idler adjuster does anyone recommend any other upgrades. also what's some good reference material or sites for a WWII pershing.

The Schumo periscope guards are pricey, but worth it.

Taking time to effectively tidy up the internal wiring pays dividends when battling and brings an inner Zen to your life!

I also have the DKLM gearbox brace (nice kit, not sure it's really necessary) and the elevation arm (very necessary).

Would love to get the Impact T-81 tracks, but they're very expensive and I'm attempting to talk myself out of 'needing' them...

thanks for reference pic links, you do realise you've just made my build a lot longer but what the hell. forgot to add I've got the gearbox brace forgot about that. was buried in my parts bin, as at the moment working on converting a Tamiya KT into a Jagdtiger.

schumo periscope guards are unavailable at the moment there awaiting supply. I will replace lifting arm as plastic ones are rubbish.
Thanks for the help guys

You might want to consider the transmission brace that Daryl Turner makes for ETO Armor: https://etoarmor.com/?product=pershing- ... ission-kit
I'm not sure if it's the same thing as whatever the DKLM one is, but it allows you to remove the gearboxes for service without taking out the whole inside pan. (You DO have to cut the pan into two parts to fit it in, but it save a lot of time in the future).

looks like I might be attempting to scratch build periscope guards, none due in stock for a while and I don't want to be waiting around. I've got myself a nice list of things to correct, add or modify so far. this is going to be fun I think. Schumo stuff is hard to get in the UK I have to order from them in Germany and it approx £13 delivery each time.
