Spam attack

Post by wibblywobbly »

We are under a spam attack and are knocking them out as and when they appear, please bear with us. Believe it or I logged in a few minutes ago to find my own IP address blocked, but thanks to some quick work by Matt I am back in the game again.

And guess who banned that IP, you did :haha: :haha:

But don't worry, after noticing Matt reinstated you, I went back and banned the correct IP :/

I know! Distracted whilst chatting, and of course didn't realise what I had done until it was too late..and I couldn't get back in.

When my forum suffered the same l started charging all new members 50p by PayPal as part of the membership application - a one off for new members but still free for existing. It worked a treat.

You have to remember that the people who sign up are not the people who profit but incredibly low paid (no pay?) labour force who don't have 50p. For the rest of the new members 50p for at great forum with no spam is a bargain, in any currency! Use the 50p's to pay the hosting costs.

It works Wibbly.

That's what Pay-Pal was invented for, I think a one off contribution would be a good idea especially if it saves mods and admin from having to be policemen.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
