Yep, it's a 1/6 jeep body, hard to make it look right in a pic but it's perfect now

I wasn’t happy with the ride height at all, very much like a bloody monster truck lol
I’ve been thinking what to do next as there was very little suspension height adjustment available.
I had the eureka moment earlier tonight, back in my misspent youth I did quite a bit of rallying in MK2 Escorts, to lower the rear all you had to do was unbolt the rear axle from under the leaf springs & rebolt the axle back on top of the leaf springs, more often than not adding a 2 inch block between the two to drop the shell even further.
I did the same with this chassis & im going to call this bang on

I’ve just got to work out a robust way to mount the wheels onto the axles now...

From my experience of doing this, I would thoroughly recommend that if you’re going to do the same, buy a complete HG P407 kit from EBay, they can be had for £160ish upwards, any parts you don’t use you can just sell on to reduce the initial outlay.

Why not print brand new wheels with correct hex drive. Or we could make up a hex drive hub which bolts to original pattern with m2 or similar?

Hi Will, I’m just on with printing a 1/6 WC51 wheel out to see how it compares to the original Jeep wheels.
The HG P407 (Tamika Bruiser clone) axles are odd in that instead of having a hex drive, the wheels are driven by 3 bolts....

Quite an oddball setup I know, to the right of the pic is a Thingiverse 12mm hex adaptor printed in PETG that looks like it could do the job.
I would have preferred to have stuck with the stock hubs but the pcd of the 3 bolt holes falls in a bad spot on the original wheels..

Ahh, WC51 wheel has just finished..
Hmm, pissed on my chips there, WC rim is approx 90mm dia whereas the Jeep rim is 75mm.
Jeep tyre is 120mm O/d x 28mm wide.

I guess the main ball ache in printing wheels & tyres would be ensuring that the combo didn’t increase the track width too much

i reckon you could print a adaptor that bolts to the hg axle. it then has its own pcd which would allow the jeep wheel to use original PCD and use metric or ba bolts.
as you say the difficulty is track, but we can get a little cunning with the offset i think and maybe enlarge the appearance of the pressing to give us the space we require. I am sure we could even make metric press ins for the back of the wheels. but i would need some detail measurements to have a look what can be done.

Knowing that I’d be fannying around with leaf springs I bought some 12mm wide spring steel, I bought 5kg though as I like to keep stock lol

Nice. Where you buy from?
I found 2nd hand Hoover's and anything with a mains plug on a recoil. The recoil units like also found in lawnmower pull starts are wrapped around with spring steel to recoil the lead back in. Plus you can buy from eBay cheap aswell. Be interested to see what you paid for that stuff

OK, I'm with ya, but I'm using the 1/4 ton dragon kit.

The frame and body are already separate so that may make things easier. I have two choices for running gear, per your excellent suggestion to get the kit. I can get this kit

Well, since no one had any opinions I went ahead and ordered the ready to run truck from banggood. Little over $200 so by the time I get this thing completely RC, including the radio I'll probably have about $450 into it.
