Panzer iii metal road wheel axle shafts ?

Post by Model Builder 4 »

Evening all,

I'm hoping someone may know where I can find a set of road wheel shafts for a panzer iii, the overall length is 20mm with the top portion of the shoulder being 5mm in diameter which sits inside the wheel and the bottom part is 3mm in diameter to go through the suspension arm Image

Cheers, Lee.

One of the problems, Lee, of upgrading Taigen/HL tanks is that bolts, shafts, circlips, screws etc., used in their construction are generally only available with the components they're used with. :| Unless, that is, someone just happens to have some left over from an upgrade.
Thus, it will likely take a full set of wheels ( or suspension arms, perhaps) to deliver a full set of axles. Heng Long Panzer.de have these screws, but I think these are probably for the plastic roadwheels.

Hi Roy, I have a set of the one's in your link, they are indeed for the plastic suspension arms and hull, I tried adapting these but unfortunately the threaded part is not long enough to go through the metal suspension arm for the grub screw to bite onto

Cheers, Lee.

I have a spare set of tiger 1 shafts but they are far to long, the only option would be to cut these to the right length but I would then lose the end which is the 3mm needed to go through the suspension arm, I would have to find a way of turning that end back down to 3mm again then ???

Cheers, Lee.
