Decals on Panzer 4s.
Does anyone know if Turret numbers and the Balkan Cross were painted on the Turret itself as well as the Turret Schurtzen of the "H" and "J" Panzer 4 ?
I think I am about to upset someone

Re: Decals on Panzer 4s.
Hi Jarndice,
Tactical numbering and crosses were not applied to turrets.
Cheers.

Thank you my friend that is really helpful,
I can now fit the Schurtzen and finish the camo before beginning the detailing.

Re: Decals on Panzer 4s.
I have had direction from a joker that I dem a "PzIV Whisperer" & he agrees that in normal circumstances, markings were only applied to the schurzen.
BUT, if said schurzen was fitted retroactively to an older machine, there will of course be previous numbering & marking.
It depends on the specific year model you are doing. Early Pz IV's were not factory fitted with the extra armour, so kits were sent for in theatre fitting.
My guess id its entirely plausible to have a tank already numbered, fitted out with the 'new' turret armour, and as it was perhaps out of the line for a while getting this and other things done, was perhaps renumbered , or even redeployed into a new company on its return.
I reckon you are free to run wild mate !

Thank you everybody, It is an "H" so it would have been a factory fit, So I shall work on the advice of "Heng Rong" and "Eastern Front" whilst nodding towards "Herman" and "Guido" for their valuable assistance.
