Tarr Smokers.

Post by jarndice »

Is there a particular reason why the outlet pipes as they come out of the top of Tarr Smokers are mounted vertically ?
In the restricted space of a Panzer 111/4 any pipes joining the smoker to the Exhaust pipe has to make a sharp 45 degree turn as it leaves the smoker, The acuteness of the turn can restrict the flow through the pipe and the "Hump" of the plumbing comes close to making contact with the overhead Tank Body.
If the outlet pipes on the Tarr Smoker were mounted horizontally the connection from smoker to exhaust pipe would be a simple piece of straight pipe/s.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Couldn't you mock up some sort of 'V' shaped cradle to sit in, Shaun, so that the pipes are then angled at 45 deg, say, instead of vertical? :| If not a cradle, then a triangular wedge (like a mini door wedge) under the base of the unit, to which it would be attached by velcro, or double-sided adhesive strips.
Perhaps this would impact on the supply of 'fuel' to the absorbent material in the unit. :problem:
If not, it might be worth trying.

Hi Roy, I solved the problem a long time ago with Silicone Tube (Thanks mick) I was just wondering why the Tarr Smoker which in every other way is better than the Heng Long and Taigen smokers could not come with the outlet pipes mounted on a 45 degree ABS pipe as the Heng Long and Taigen ones are or better yet be a horizontal fit.

 Hmmm.. well. How about warm air rises, and doesn't go sideways? ;)

I am reasonably sure that if a sealed container has two holes in the side near the top then warm air/smoke will use those holes as an exit. :haha:

Hi, just drill a couple of holes where it lines up the best for you and blank of the original holes, the fan will
purge any smoke out when running so it shouldnt make any difference where you relocate them to.
