Both was used on all fronts i.e. Atlantic Wall, Siegfried Line etc.

Cool, thanks for the reply. I didn't realise they were that old. I've not seen them in old photos.
I need to read up on these designs now, they're rather interesting, looks like they were done to conserve concrete, although they must have used steel reinforcing.
