Early War Japanese Tankette by TAKOM

So, after a discouraging Doctor's visit last Friday up in Colorado Springs, I stopped by the excellent Hobby Town shop there. This kit immediately caught my eye as I had been trying to talk myself into buying one online for some time. A few bucks later, it came home with me. I'll need ideas as to how to successfully RC something this cramped for space but It can be done ( I believe ) I added it to my Build list and it will be started sometime soon. Hi, I have one, but the other version (the one with the commander in the cuppola) those kits can be found in europe for about 20-25 euros or so.

I planned to RC it... But then I saw the sprochets, the weak suspension and specially the micro tracks, so then I decided to keep it as a static...

But I am sure it can be converted, I just have no time, patience, and the end result will probably too weak for driving outside the desktop...

Carl! I will definitely be bugging you on this one when it gets started. I remember your excellent early Chech. Panzer One of those 1/35 scale gear boxes should work. Rad. No doubt that this one would be relegated to smooth surfaces or an asphalt 'road' in the tank village. It is not a metal monster like the IS-2 behind it. ;o)

Hello Painless, that does look cool almost like a 1/35th kit.
Am I wrong in thinking it comes with two sets of tracks? It looks like a lot of little track sections on the spru in the third to last picture, and a rubber track in the second to last picture

They include the rubber track for lazy guys like me ( or for folks who want to motorize it ;o) Those link tracks might go together like those neat Tamiya ones and be useable tho' Hmmmmmms

Looks like quite a challenge waiting down the line! These Takom models are very nicely detailed and, it seems, value for money. They can look fantastic when completed; but require a lot of time, patience, and skill. You have those in abundance... I'm sure that what can be achieved with the Takom FT-17, below, can also be matched with the type 94 Tankette.

As an example of what can be done with a Takom kit, do watch this video It begins with stills, but do wait for the impressive display that follows. Unfortunately, the details of the servos and stuff involved are not given.
