Thanks to your input the calculator has been revised!
Photographs of each gearbox are included and some new ones were added. Each calculator includes a percentage ratio and the output speed reads both MPH and KM/H now, an important consideration for my friends outside the USA!
In addition, the calculator needs the sprocket diameters of all Tamiya, Matorro, Trumpeter and Heng Long KV-1 tanks. If you can measure your sprockets and send me an e-mail or PM that would be great!
This product improves with your input!

Re: Updated Gearbox Calculator!
Hi Just been looking at your gearbox calculator ,what a great tool this is, its going to make altering ratios in the tanks alot better.Found one error its the speed of the tiger /pantiger you have it down at 34mph I think it should be 22-24 mph depending on early or late.

Re: Updated Gearbox Calculator!
Hi Thanks to your calculator found the right gearing for my Tiger 1 3:1 gearboxes with Jamara 480 motors .Also found that if I use 8 tooth pinions on stock gearboxes (Metal)with white cap motors they workout very close to scale speed for my Panzer 3 and 4 also the Stug III.Now will have to go and count the gears on my old Sherman gearboxes and work out the speed of that one ...
Thanks again
just realised the speed you had for the Tiger was using black cap motors .

Re: Updated Gearbox Calculator!
Thanks Pete, that section could use some more attention.
During a speed run, our PZIII did 1.58 mph @ 10000rpms which was just slightly faster then stock. The 8T pinion will bring it under stock max speed but increase the gearing to nearly 50:1 which is an excellent trade!

Re: Updated Gearbox Calculator!
Hi Have tried this gearing in my Panzer 4 and its much better to drive it dosnt set off like a scalded cat now and better climbing ability, still a little faster than a Tiger 1 with 3:1 gears and 480 motors ,but you would expect it to be a little faster. So with the same gearing in the Stug and Panzer 3 I think its about the best match, still moves when it has taken hits on the Battle units ,which it needs for the Stug III other wise it will sit there till someone kills it or drives infront of it.
With this gearbox/motor calculator it takes the guess work out of working out which is the best combination of motor and gearbox to use ,I remember a very long post of yours on RCU about which was best for this tank and which was better for that tank, there was a lot of confusion because people wanted different things from there tanks ,I want as near scale speed as posible with as much torque as posible so the tank drives as much like a real one as posible ,some people want one that flies around a great speed they can also make use of this .I dont even if the tank had a top speed of say 24mph it would be very rare if ever it reached this speed ,scale is the the best to go for .
So I for one would like to Thank You for the work you have done on this Calculator well done Swathdiver.
