I think if I had a friend with a suitable body of water I'd start with one of those Torro landing craft. But keep the goggles and fins close by, or better yet, a teenager.

Lack of a suitable place to play is the main reason I haven't done anything that floats. I think Rivetcounter did a 6th schwimm, right? Another great way for you to break into both 1/6 scale, Roy, and a vehicle that's not totally tracked would be a halftrack. You can still find the Sd.Kfz. 250 and it's a pretty good kit that's not so big you have to buy a new van or truck just to tote it 'round. Someday I'll get around to mine, but the bug has been making himself known more and more here recently, so it may be soon. Yeah, yeah, that's what they all say, right?

A friend of mine moved to their new carp fishing lake this weekend that they've recently bought in France.

Hi, Gary. Yes, that Torro LCT is on sale here on Ebay for around £460; the 'Sherman tank is available separately'..it notes. Well, I guess intelligence isn't universal, eh? 
Looking back over the threads I missed, I see there was a phase where LCTs cropped up a fair bit. At this price, though, I think I'd rather buy enough bits off Chris Ludwig to get building a British Comet.
After the Comet, I'll seriously consider a 1:6 project of some sort. Given that I prefer WW2 and earlier armour, the prime candidate would be a British MKIV.,,but, I would deck it out as the captured German
'Beutepanzer Wagen'. After that, well, there won't be an 'after that', unless I build an extension to the house to cope with the clanking kits.
One room was already a home (music) studio, but now resembles a tank park...
