Thanks Carl, "scale realism" is the goal. :D

I suspect once the message reaches the home planet, some 4.1 light years they will be!! :haha:

Light years eh?
Now we know why you are so good at detailing tanks, plenty of time to practice during the trip !!!
Must be a lot easier in zero gravity too, never drop or lose a part !!!!

Yes, but they can become chocking hazards or "poke your eye out" while they're floating around. 8O

Re: M1A1HA, 9/21 Update, Side Skirt Armored Tiles FINISHED!

Post by BarryC »

The Side Skirts and Reactive Armored Tiles are finished until after paint except for the small lift grabs. I will install them later after making canvas lift straps.

I’ve made new mounting pins used to hold the Side Skirts/Armored Tiles to the hull. I also made the Hinge Pins for the same. I’ve completed all the lock/retainer pins with locking rings.

This completes all the (major) work on the Reactive Armored Tiles. I still must mount the small Lift Grabs that I previously formed but will mount later in the build. The Tile Retainers will also go on after paint. I’m sure there are some others that have slipped my mind for now!

Here are some pics of the mount pins and retainers as well as hinge pins. I'll show only the left side, right is nearly identical.

Starting in the front:

These pics show how it will look with the Tile Retainer in place at the Forward Dual Hanger. Eash of the reatiner gst two bolts in the holes seen atop the retainer. The bolts wedge the lock pin into place.

Next, on to the fabrication of the Headlight Brush Guards and forward fuel tanks Armored Fuel Cover Handle Locks and a few other details on the front of the hull. I’m starting to get a little excited about finishing up all the major portions of the build. There is still lots to do like add all the weld beads but the big hurtles are just about done.

Thanks for looking in!

Superb Barry, just superb. Are you sure you want to paint this model ? I would probably leave it unpainted. One thing is sure, it puts a lot of pressure on the paint job results.
