I have both boards. As a fresh newbie I´d start with the IBU 2 Ultimate pro. As a user with a bit more experience, Open Panzer.

But you will have fun with both.

Definitely, I think I'll be using the TCB in all my tanks from here on out. It's got the customisation of the Elmod and the sounds of the Clark at the price of the IBU. What more could you want? :haha:

Remember that you don't need to use expensive serial ESCs (basically any RC ESC will do) or expensive sound units (the Taigen sound module and the Chinese knockoff of the TBS micro work too).

Ok after a bit more research and the useful answers here, this is what I've decided to order :)

Open Panzer Board

FlySky FS-i6X including FS-A8S receiver

Bendini Mini

45a ESC x 2

I am working on the principal that its probably a bit overkill for my current stage in the hobby, but I will grow into it quit quickly, and if needed this setup can be move to which ever is my current favourite tank at the time ;)
As for the slightly more tech level needed on the OP board, that suits me fine, I do tech stuff daily so it doesnt phase me and I like a challenge ...

Thanks for the advice, in this thread and several others, and hopefully even my ramblings will be useful for other noob's as they join us!

One down side of all this... Roni has already said 'If your tank is that much better once all this is fitted, I want it on mine too' :haha: :S

I almost completed the upgrade on my Panther :) Not perfect, but it works and i'm happy with it.

It took me a while to figure out a layout that would work, and also the wiring. Pretty much all of it needed re wiring to suit the open Panzer board so its a one way trip for the tank!

A few additions needed are a full isolator switch for the battery, and the lights wired up, but the needed wiring parts are en route from China so that will be done later.

I am also doing the fan mod to the smoker at a later date, as even the Taigen Mk2 is more of a smoulder than a smoker and not worth the effort!

All this is controlled by a FlySky i6x (now modded to 10 channels) and the FS-A8s reciever. I do not have a return spring on the turret control as I also fly with it.

Side plates .... it needs side plates! (inspired by the post from Rob on here)

I'll try to make a short video if it working.

Still got a few things to iron out, but overall, really pleased with the setup.
