Many thanks for that.

I'm trying to do the build for minimum cost so I will print my own and save the 42 Euro plus postage. The only costs so far have been the tracks, gearboxes, filament, nuts, bolts, screws, and sheet styrene.

Hi Alwyn, is the plan to print the barrel in sections & hold it together to bond it with the brass tube?
Nice work sir!!
Cheers

Hi Wayne, I planned to print the barrel in one piece and strengthen it with the brass tube. You will possibly want to split it although with your new printer you should be able to do a 1 piece print so long as you use a raft base.

Thanks Alwyn, my new printer arrived yesterday, took me 2 1/2 hours to put it together. I took photos during the build so I’ll post a build thread as soon as I get chance. Hopefully it will encourage others to have a go.
Cheers

I had a busy day yesterday which was mainly successful. I printed off the mantlet, but the initial design wasn't so good and didn't fit onto the pivot so a swift bit of redesign resulted in a mantlet that clips onto the pivot, thus enabling the mantlet to be threaded over the fitted barrel and clipped onto the assembled pivot without the need for further fixing.

I also printed the barrel, but got a little too clever for my own good. I tried to print it with the narrow piece that fits into the pivot, but that didn't work so good and I the narrow piece didn't print properly so I had to amputate it. I'll reprint it separately and glue it all together whn the 4mm brass tube arrives.

Hi Alwyn, I’ve printed the mantlet a couple of times & broken the clips both times. I’ve had a play around with the scad code & managed to increase their width slightly to hopefully make them more robust, hope you don’t mindImage

Hi Wayne, no problem with changes. The key to printing the mantlet is to print it upright so the deposition is along the prongs, don't try and print it flat, the prongs will snap.
