The beauty of Alwyn posting the scad files is, you pic up an understanding of how it works & you can make modifications if you feel you need to.
It works for me, I really appreciate what Alwyn is doing sharing his hard work & skills
Cheers

xrad wrote:Great work Alwyn. Curious, if you are posting the code, why not just post the STL file? I think that that admin could make a change so that we can load STL or 3D print files like an image file.....
Stl files can be loaded into the download section on the main menu

Hi folks, thanks for the good words. The reason for posting the scad files is to enable others to understand how to design/create parts, and also to allow others to modify and improve the designs to create their own versions. It also allows parts to be split up for easier printing.

Here's the last bit of the rear upper hull

That just about finishes the upper hull except for the drivers hatch and a couple of bits on the front and back which I'll attend to later.

Next job is the turret.

The latest version of Cura, 3.4, has a plugin that allows you to import an Openscad file directly, without having to convert it to an STL file first.

Great work Alwyn, Heng Long are probably gnashing their teeth as I type! :haha:

Hmmmm, I just tried to upload the Centurion turret stl file but it's too large at 4.6 mbytes, so anyone who wants it just pm me with your email address and I'll e-mail it. For anyone wanting it in smaller printing portions I have split it horizontally and have the upper and lower stls. They print in 15 hrs and 13 hours respectively rather than the 36 hour full turret version. I'm also working on the scad for the urret roof which will probably take me a day or so.

Yes I'm 9 and a half hours into a 13 hour print of the upper part of the turret, and I shall be so happy to see the end of it. The lower half took 15 hours yesterday but I am very pleased with the quality. Having printed the lower part of the turret I have discovered that the hole in the bottom of the turret is not actually centred on the turret pivot point, so some fancy design was required to create a fix. More on that later when I've printed the turret pivot/spacer and I discover whether it works.....  8O
