I have recently bought a Snow Leopard, but after a while I think I should have went with the upgraded metal gears and tracks. To late now, but is it worth buying them? Also I can't seem to find a website where you can buy the gears and tracks separately. I saw at Raidentech selling the metal tracks, but they sold out.
How difficult would it be to install them?

Some soldering maybe required to swap the motors over (you could leave the motors and swap the just the gearboxes, but I find that the chimp who builds them tends to cross thread the screws holding the motors to the gearboxes ::) )
to change the tracks over, push out the track pin with a thumb tack. You should push from the outside edge inwards as the knurled end of the pin in on the inside of the track. The drive sprocket needs a 2.5mm Hex wrench. Everything else can be dismantled with a medium size phillips screwdriver

HI there idk761
You will get a completely different driving experince if you go for the metal stuff. I could not imaging having my tanks without the metal extras.
And as Ex_Pat_Tanker writes, its very easy to shift gears, but you will need to do some soldering if your electronics not are rx-18 style and the motors do not come with wires pre-soldered.
cheers

Totally agree. Fitting metal boxes and tracks is a must.
The extra weight makes your tanks suspension work more realistically. Instead of jumping into the air when it encounters a twig or a small bump, it just rolls over it. Much more like the real thing.
