Wicksteed at War, Forgebear & G.L.A.D.

Post by bikerdude »

Anyone else ventured to this event this weekend? We've just got back from it (only live about 10 miles from it). Was great seeing all the Landrovers, Bedford lorries, Green Goddesses, vintage fire engine, tanks, half tracks. And while wandering through the varying displays and stalls, I looked over and saw a sign saying 'Forgebear', a quick "i'm going over here", to the wife and I was gone, 2 kids in tow. What a good display of tanks they had, along with Grantham Light Armoured Div. with their set up of buildings, bridges, and other scenery. Had a good chat with 1 of the blokes outside, about the club and when/where they meet. Then another good chat with a bloke inside tent looking at all their displays, while trying to keep my 3 y/o out of arms reach of all the nice looking tanks! Couldn't get any photos as I was carrying a child, but there were some very nice models there. A lovely weathered Bulldog, which is probably my favourite of the HL range, my eldest liked a desert camo Pz.4 (I think it was a 4) and my other son liked all of them, but was especially taken with a piece of field artillery, no idea what it was specifically.

If it was you I was talking to, then it was a good chat, and hopefully I'll be able to come to a meet sometime.

It's got lots of buttons on it, and I haven't got a clue what they do, so I don't press any of them. You should have seen my video of the Lancaster fly past, a legend in its own lifetime....or it would have been if there had been a Lancaster in any of the footage... :/

Took some better still shots.

Denzil built the MLRS, it is flawless and it all works, including missile launchers.
ExPat (Martin) did the D9, it's huge, and as you would expect the scratch building is also right up there with the best. It's based on a Bruder.

Only someone who has scratch built armour knows how good these two are.

Was a good trip down, and an excellent show. Slightly less fun on the return, got home at 7am, but the fuel economy was incredible!

I assume that you didn't overshoot your house and end up in a neighbours garden... :P

Cool, thanks for the extra pictures

No, you missed what I was referring to, your camera being powered by petrol, listen to the background noise ;) :haha:
Ahhhh, the generators, you get so used to them at the shows that you end not even realising that they are running, most people have them, and it's only late evening when they get switched off that peace descends and you think that you have gone deaf. :D
