V Late Panther G (steel wheel)

Post by Spartan tracks »

The few bits I’ve been waiting for have arrived so they will be added during rebuild and paint, So the big strip down can start and paint , I’ve also supplied a pic of the tank I’m building I believe it was abandoned in 45 along with many others that had no fuel. Andy

Its great that the steel-wheel lower panther can now be bought.
I had to adapt my H/L version to take the steel wheels for my Zu Fuss Panther & it was a lot of work.
221 was one I looked at doing at that time, but I went with the Littlefield panther as a what if.

Interesting info on the Steel Wheel panthers................they were only produced and issued to one unit, and they were fully supported in-field by factory engineers in order to establish why the guide horns kept breaking off.
I would say that the data was both inaccurate, and sporadic due to heavy losses and no opportunity to inspect or recover failed tanks.
Plus I doubt they were in action long enough to really suffer from mechanical failure before they were abandoned or knocked out over the duration of the "Bulge" operations.

Great to see you back at the bench Mr Spartan
