HL Pz. III metal wheel set

Post by Smaily »

Hello all,

I have a question regarding metal wheel+arm set for Pz. III. I just get it and it seems there are some parts missing. As You can see below in attached photo, only two of the wheels had those three small screws in, all other wheels miss those screws. Without them the two wheel parts seems to be a bit loose (not hold together well).

So now question is, if that is normal, that screws are missing with those sets? Or where I can get such small screws?

THX all.

What was the answer of your supplier?

I don't have a Panzer 111- yet, but it's a fairly safe bet that if most of the wheel pairs are secured together by screws (some types use superglue), the rest should be too. :eh: I'd contact the vendor for replacements, and email this pic as supporting evidence, if I were you. Failing that, determine the screw type and check with Ebay, say, to see if a small pack is available. Bags of screws are quite inexpensive, and you don't want the wheels coming off your tank do you? Hunting in the grass for small parts can be very frustrating... :-<

So, I mailed supplier and I got instant reply (I mean really fast  ). I ordered from TankArmy.com, which I really recommend, packed well and from Australia to Slovakia delivery took I think less than two weeks (what i believe is quite nice).

But back to the topic, I will copy reply from TankArmy:
These wheels do not come with the screws anymore. Initial production came with the screws but no longer used in later production. The bigger screw that fixes the wheel onto the suspension can hold the wheel's front half and back half together. Please go ahead to install the wheels and you will see them work well.
So I will install those as they are, as I do not think I would be able to find out such small screw that will fit there anyway. And seems not to be a problem, as I tried and they will not fall apart easily (even, when front and back wheel has not too tight fit, it does not look like falling down).

I put a set of those on my III and they worked great. I lined up the screw holes and attached the halves with super glue, then put them on the tank. Haven't had any come loose yet.

Now, I get to install wheels, but they are like out of axis, is there any way how to align them? Arms looks aligned just fine, but some of the wheels just roll really bad. Those are HL metal arms and metal wheels. Came preassembled, like on previous photos.

Hi,
the first on left the centerhole is really bad drilled.
You can try to better align the wheel halves twist by 30 ° = one screw or 60 °

That first one is the worst I would say, there is another like that on the other side too. I need to do something about it. Lets say that others are acceptable, but that one is really bad >:<
