Panther with PzIV turret
Just finished this one up a buddy. It's a standard HL hull with their metal gearboxes, and a Taigen metal turret. Wound up swapping out the airsoft unit to get everything to work. The standard suspension works great with the metal turret. There is just enough weight to get the suspension to float. Has a nice sway when the tank starts or stops.
Still have to make the antennas for it, but that's all.
Thanks for looking!

Well it surely gives it a very low signature!
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!
I'm a happy man.

Re: Panther with PzIV turret
If I'm not mistaken, one panther hull with Pz IV turret was actually built but the turret didn't rotate, it was fixed in place. This was used as a command / scouting vehicle. But a Pz III hull with Pz IV turret? The turret rings were very different sizes, the Pz IV turret wouldn't fit on the Pz III hull, plus it was too heavy - especially with late / big guns.Ragnar wrote:Sooo, maybe my idea of a PZ IV turret on a PZIII Hull is not crazy after all !!
I mean, if you want to build one go right ahead, I don't mean to discourage you, it's just not a thing with any historical basis.

Re: Panther with PzIV turret
Just call it a "Paper Panzer". Who could really say that it wasn't considered? Pretty much anything you want to give a go, as long as you're enjoying it. After all, that's what a hobby is for!Ragnar wrote:Sooo, maybe my idea of a PZ IV turret on a PZIII Hull is not crazy after all !!

Yes, Lert is correct. There appears to have been only one of these made, for use as a command vehicle. Since the turret ring on the HL Panther and the HL PzIV are the same size, I was able to make the turret rotate pretty easily!

Wow ... You missed the point of my post by such a way that I don't even know how to respond to this.Son of a gun-ner wrote:Kelly's hero's isn't real, therefore Oddballs Sherman has no historical basis, especially with the loudspeaker, but you carry on building it. . . . .
