I was sure I mentioned the bucket earlier but here is another pic. ;o) I had painted it gun metal and added a red wooden handle. No, no airbrushing yet. I'm saving that for the 1/6 Stuart where it will come in very, very handy. I'm still looking around at various compressor and tool kit combos for it. The difference that you see is light related. From warmer electric light inside to afternoon sunshine outside. ;o)

Hey Painless (every time I see that name it reminds me of the guy in the movie M*A*S*H) that's one seriously good lookin' tank. And good timing. I just got this in the mail this week.



I plan to paint it and I want to put in an IBU2 so I'm wondering what electronics you have in yours. Mine has the metal lower hull w/liftoff top so hopefully that will make things easier. I'm concerned about clearance for the airsoft unit. Any chance you have some photos of the inside of your Stug?

A sensational version of an early STuG Mr Painless, a well versed & detailed build log and the finished artical , well, bloody brilliant.
I am a fan of the way the grey seems to take on many different hues when weathered right, not to many greys getting about it seems.

Thank you! This StuG was built out of two different vehicles and a resin kit. ( + the usual assortment of metal bits and bobs ) The Build thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=14564 Your StuG has one of the best lowers that Taigen offers and will be a great base for a build. There should be plenty of room for your airsoft unit.

I appreciate the kudos, my friend. ;o) This build went on for a very long time and was more involved than anything that came before. The resin kits make you 'build' a tank and then figure out how to make it work. *chuckles* They are great fun! I'm doing a resin Sturmtiger next Spring and will put the lessons learned on this StuG to good use then. The paint and weathering came out right but only because I had stumbled upon the way to do it when finishing up the 1/35 research StuG. I'm glad you enjoyed it and am enjoying watching you do your Swine StuG build.

That's some build log. 20 pages! You're right that the lack of a battery box will help quite a bit and I'll be using zippy compact lipos so that will also save space. I still have to decide on a paint scheme, you got any tips for good places to find them? Right now I'm torn between finding an actual Stug and duplicating it to the best of my abilities, or matching it to the S33 with the Dunkelgelb/Olivgrun camo. That wouldn't be historically accurate, but it would be cool to have my own little tank unit. I'm already planning to cheat with the Jagdtiger and assign it to the same unit as the S33 with the markings for S24 (which was actually a Tiger One), and the S01's looking mighty tempting (not to mention that it would actually be a historical match for the S33). I'm also thinking about giving my unit a PzIV, so why not a Stug III as well? I know the rivet counters really hate guys like me, but I gave up on them a long time ago anyway so I might as well have some fun with it. That's what a hobby's mainly supposed to be about, right?

The best advice I can give is _make sure_ that you are having fun with whatever you are building. A lot of my Tanks that are not historical builds are numbered 321. ;o) Enjoy your StuG! Following along on your build.

Good evening,
Puttering around and thinking about 43rd R&Rs excellent StuG IV build, I decided to get out this early StuG III and get a video up. Well, after an hour+s worth of trouble shooting and repairing the main gun then remounting the antenna that I knocked off, I finally got to run it out in the lot. It ran spectacularly until I got a stone up in the idler and threw a track. I got the track back on and did a couple more small videos to show the main gun and smoker in action. It is definitely a StuG Life around here!!!
