PayPal change of contract

I've just had an email from PayPal with contract changes, and reading quickly through them it seems to me that when payments are being made, the sender is going to be charged fees rather than the recipient. It's going to clarify things as when someone asks a certain price for something, then that's what they will get, the buyer will then pay any fees due.

As far as I know the sender has always paid the fees for Friends and Family payments.

The impact of these changes is likely to affect me as I buy items from China and Hong Kong using PayPal with a credit card, which means I will probably now get hit with a 5% PayPal fee. The consequence will be that now it may be cheaper to buy local. I wondered why recently when buying stuff the seller seemed to be local but with long delivery times and turned out to be a chinese company.

I wondered why eBay was touting a new payment method, and suddenly all is starting to become clear.....

I don't really mind being charged by Pay-Pal after all they are to all intents and purposes a Bank,
They certainly make it much easier to spend money

One could say that about Scotland, with free prescriptions etc.

Oh, I never knew I paid fees when I was being nice to some people when buying their stuff lol

Mick you generally don't. International payments have a small charge, payments with a credit card a slightly large one (for sender)

For UK based transactions there is always direct bank transfers, fee free, and can be done from a phone?

I haven't had an email yet, it will be interesting to see what it says.
