8,000 dollars worth of Heng Long Tiger 1
Re: 8,000 dollars worth of Heng Long Tiger 1
Well, I've fallen in love with 1/6 scale, but I doubt I'll ever get anything bigger than the Hetzer. For some reason my "internal hobby motor" hasn't been runnin' right lately, so I haven't been getting much done, but I have a feeling when spring hits I'll get back in gear. The point is, I've decided on a happy medium. I have one wicked paintball tank, now I'll work on smaller stuff in 1/6, like kubels and the 250 Halftrack that's been waiting over a year to get motorin'. And don't forget the MB 540K. Just the one kubel, the 250 and the Mercedes will take me a couple of years. Add in the little trucks and the 1/16 tanks and I don't see myself running out of projects any time soon.
As for the HL 1/6 Tiger, there used to be an advertisement on TV over here for V8 Juice, and the catch phrase was, "I coulda had a V8!!", so if I ever did get foolish enough to spend that kind of money I know I'd end up smackin' myself in the noggin' and sayin', "I coulda had an Armortek!".

Andrew Haya, a member here and generally well regarded vendor, is selling the 1:8 version for £6,500 (inc. VAT). It fires BBs, but then Heng Long only do BB versions these days, I think. Oddly enough, he highlights
Barrel Recoil' as one of the main features of the tank. Unless HL have borrowed Taigen's Airsoft Barrel Recoil technology, or developed their own, then 'barrel recoil' has to be 'track recoil' in disguise.

Just checked out Torro, in Germany. They sell the 1:6 version..https://www.torro-shop.de/1-6-RC-Tiger- ... Version-BB
One of the features they highlight is- 'Pipe Retraction'..
something like this? Of course 'barrel' translates as 'pipe' in German, and so Torro are claiming 'barrel recoil' just like Andrew Haya...
Sehr interessant, Ja...

OK, someone has to say it ... those freakin' prices are absolutely frakkin' ridiculous for a Heng Long, I don't care if it's metal or not. Well, maybe if it were gold or platinum ...
But, some people have much more money than brains so I imagine they'll sell a few. I'd still rather have an Armortek.

I think you all must have missed the video that explains the high cost. Each model is meticulously hand made by an ageing master craftsman in a dimly lit workshop using only the finest quality materials

Pity its romp around the real Tiger 131 in Bovington was so blurry.
But cop the sound anyway...
