HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Finally sorted out.my gear mesh and slipping issues. Had to shim the back of a gear and then for the other diff housings and covers I had to flat them back to avoid slip. It now probably seems a little rough, but it should now bed in.
So next job on the 6x6 is to make a light setup for it.

Better get some LEDs on order.

Amazing work, the thing you gents do with these little trucks are mind boggling. Who would I have to speak with to have a copy of that file, those wheels would make my task a lot easier.

HL Truck Mods

Hi Igotit,
Ahh the Ossum Jeep, I printed that a while ago but i scaled it to 1/16, unfortunately you then struggle for room to fit any running gear, I’ve got some tiny motors with axles now that I’m going to try & fit at some point.
Image
Most of my models come from Thingiverse, I tweak them to 1/16.
I use parts from lots of different 3D models to get what I need, cutting & tweaking as required.
It also helps to know as many people as possible who have CAD skills.
I’m just about to get some training on Fusion 360, well I will if my laptop will run it lol
Image
This is a good example, the Hanomag 3D model was from Thingiverse, scale was 1/200, I blew it up to 1/16, I removed the wheel arches coz they didn’t look right at 1/16, then cut it into 6 or 7 bits to print. I used modified wheel arches from a Lancia truck, a tweaked gas canister model to make the air tanks & modified windows from Wib’s Morris Quad. Lots more to do on it before it’s ready for paint.
Wheels & tyres are the biggest problem at 1/16.
Cheers

Wayne Hi, I wonder if you have visited ---
www.spareblocks.com
They are a very good source in the UK for all things "LEGO" including Tyres,
Well worth a visit although Mick gave me a hard time when I pointed him to this dealer because he ended up spending money on stuff he didn't know he wanted until he saw it on the site. :haha: :haha:
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
