Hah!

You’re not the only one. I got a 88mm stuck on its ‘shoulder’ ( ? ) Yes, it works, ànd I got the sound unit of the spider tank working with the Bb-gun. The white dome at the rear houses a 4w 4ohm speaker. Pretty loud with the spider’s stock sounds.

The little black box with the hole on top is an improvised bb-loader, glued to the little gubbin that feeds the gun the bb’s.
Image (Lessee if Photobucket plays nice)

If You take the top apart, and the dart shooting thing off, You’ll notice it uses the same kind of mechanism as the Heng Long BB unit to trigger sound and firing. Microswitch and a motor connection.

Only ‘problem’ is that stock it uses 4AA cells = 6v to drive the whole affair, so firing is a tad slow.

For now I have taken it apart, and am about to stick a complete KV-1 turret on it. Firing mechanism and all.

If You are réally adventurous, the whole affair càn be powered and steered with the stock HengLong/Taigen tank controllers, strange as it may sound. Just connect the motors to it, and watch it go. Only thing to figure out is placing the battery somewhere. I’m using the small 1500mah Li-ion of my T-90’s

In due time, in due time. :P

Still wrestling with the T-90 and the IBU2U’s sound levels. If I got that running loud enough, then it’s on to the walking KV-1

“fantasy Armour” or something. Has a nice ring to it. I’m àll for something like that.

By the by, might One try to use the HL/Taigen controller, steering is done through turret control. Óne of the motors has to be connected to the turret rotation control. That’s because one motor rotates the top/turret, and one moves the legs, and the spidertank goes to where the turret points. The little rotation motor doesn’t overload the RX18, no worries there. Its motors are tiny and frugal

One You get Your head around the complex steering/movement logic, it gets easy.

Once stripped down you have one motor for leg movement and one for turret rotation , it moves in the direction the turret faces. I'm using a old clarke TK20 board to control it with a gun selector circuit to fire each one independently
