I have used the old Tamiya Sherman tracks (they also used the same tracks for the Leopard 1A4). I remember them being a real pain to put together and the final result was quite a 'floppy' track with a lot of unwanted lateral movement. They also had a tendency for the pins to come loose on a regular basis.

I remember trying all sorts of ways to hold the end-connectors to the pins (super-glue -even soldering at one point) but nothing would stop them from working loose. I eventually cannabalised two sets of tracks to convert into VVSS track for my Brit Sherman. The best method I found to hold the end-connectors was to mushroom the ends of the pins with a small hammer. This has worked on my VVSS Sherman mod but the links still work loose occasionally.

Hope this helps.
Cheers

HI guys ,soldered my on in 1974 with a very heavy iron, and to date they are still working fine,
only thing i can remember is ,it was the solder that did not have flux in it but this had to be added for every link, yes i know there are a lot of them, but do a good job  and they will not let you down........
Fleshy....................
and they will give you a nice sag.............

Sounds better to just replace them with newer metal tracks others have said they are slippery and dont bite well a lots of work to keep them working .
