HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

I can send you a mount Will if you want, but you'll have to get your own motors.
The guy on YouTube used 160rpm units, I've got 300rpm units for £5 each.

They arrived in 3 days. I've also ordered some cheaper ones from China.

Thanks for the offer. But i have got some alloy plate which I gonna use to mount the motors and also use as a strengthening bulkhead :)

I bought some for another application but they are 20rpm. But ok to.size it and then replace with higher rpm

Need to order some more materials.
Got the Rat Rod M35 to finish. Also building a short bed GAZ Hot Rod then the Bruder truck conversion.

Whilst in Germany last week I picked up a beige M35. I will be going to town on that and building for.my friend and work colleagues son.

Here's another build to.add the collection

Wayne Hi,
A couple of questions,
I assume that the axles on the B-1 and the B-24 are identical and if you fit your twin motor holder presumably there is no longer any need for the transfer box ?
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Hey Shaun, you have it right, with dual motors the motors have a little planetary gearbox on the front so you drive each driveshaft directly off the output shaft, and no longer need the transfer case.

Hallo Gary, Thank you for that,
I suppose that is where the twin motor mounting goes.
I like the idea of adding extra power if you are converting to a six wheeler and the extra weight of the added motor low down in the chassis will help to tame the springy suspension.
Shaun.

Just so there isn’t a misunderstanding, the N20 motors are tiny in comparison to the std WPL motors.

Found these 130 motors with sun gear in china.
They were for to slow at 20 rpm/min, but when i took out one sungear from the gearbox they turned into approx 120 rpm/min.
I have not tried them in my HL truck yet, but with dual motors i think i will have slow speed and lots of torque.
Original motor shown also

Those 130 gears from China look pretty good, but they will require a major overhaul of the Dual motor mounting box
