3D Printing Files Free to Download

Post by silversurfer1947 »

There is a post on Facebook from R C Tanks Australia which could be useful for you printers out there. I quote "New to the webstore I have added a 3D files section where I plan to add my new range of 3D designs. The good news is that at present ALL designs are FREE. You still have to go through the shop process but there is no charge for the download.
I have a range of recoil unit and elevation servo mount designs specific for Heng Long tanks to be added over the next few days/weeks.
All designs I have printed off on my $300 printer using PLA so I hope that the designs are somewhat "bulletproof" for most printers. I could not be happier with the results so far.
As yet I have no plans to sell actual printed prints but I may supply the hardware parts such as the grub screws and ball studs for the recoil units.
"
There are photos/computer designs in the Facebook post, but they won't copy. Worth checking out, I would think.

Have you figured out how to download the files? I went and couldn't figger it out, but that don't mean nothin' when you remember what a Gomer i am with computers.

I emailed Kevin for assistance. I already have the tank trap and that's a great file, but I'd like to try the jerry cans, too.

Hi Gary, what you have to do is 'purchase' the item, go through to checkout, enter your details, complete the purchase which is for $0 AUS, and then you are given the option to download the files. Hope that helps

Thanks, Guys. I guess I just didn't go far enough.

I tried the jerry can but need to try again with finer, what, resolution? Smaller layers. I did the first one at 0.2 per layer and it's just too rough. Only took 29 minutes to print, though. More later. 8)

That tank trap file of Kevin's is very, very cool. I've printed several at 0.2 layer thickness and they come out great.

Hi Gary, for detailed items like the jerry can you need to be at least .15mm layer height but for a really fine finish on a small item, it needs to be layer height of 0.1mm.

Happy printing

I reset for .08 mm per layer and we'll see what happens.

After the first of the PAK 40 prints, maybe. @)

I printed the first jerrycan at 0.2 layer height in 25 minutes to see how it went.
I’m currently printing 7off at 0.1, currently at 33% done.

You can just about read the writing which isn’t too shabby.
