JS-3 Russian Heavy Tank

Post by c.rainford73 »

While escaping the family for the holidays whenever one possibly can, I gave my JS-3 a bit of a facelift.

It didn't cost me any money and sometimes while builds are completed like my M-3 Lee I like to tinker and have some fun.

I'd take it outside but unfortunately right now it's 4 degrees Fahrenheit outside with -5 windchill. Good place to recreate the battle of Stalingrad. So it sits on my workbench.

My buddy MichealC started this build

It has a Clark tk22, servo recoil, IR flash and servo turret rotation. The turret is very heavy resin so standard turret rotation assembly just simply struggles.

I added a Visaton speaker and enclosure from RCtankelectronics.com

Metal barrel and muzzle break.

Metal tracks and brass gearboxes.

Cheers guysImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Love the JS3. Such a futuristic looking tank for 1945.

Great work on the model.

Quick Q - the dshk, is it from a ztz? I would highly recommend getting one from the Hooben T55 or shapeways, made a massive difference on my Syrian Panzer iv to have a decent looking mg. I replaced the ztz one with a Hooben one.

Carl!
I told Michael a long time ago, it's not everyday that some one fires up a 'Pike' I am glad to see that this example continues to rumble on.
regards and a great job all around, Doc,

Adam that's a great idea. Thanks for the kind words . They do look almost alien by 1945 standards Image
