HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

I didn't have an issue before but now I have. Also tried more servos and they all do it. Very strange

I did have a problem just like that recently. I was installing the electronics into an Asiatam Opel Blitz and took it out for a test run. It ran just fine in a straight line, but as soon as I tried to make a turn, the steering went all wonky. Took it back inside, flipped it over and started trying to figure out the problem. Tried swapping channels and such, but no luck. After a lot of head scratching and out right cussing, it turned out to be the servo/radio combination. The servo was a new digital, metal gear unit, and the radio was a new digital 2.4G unit. I tried an older servo I had laying around, and low and behold, it all started working! Not sure what the problem was, but swapping out the servo corrected it.

So, basically, you might try an older servo.

Hope this might help,

Bill

But the prices! Especially for the stock replacements. But this guy is always over-priced.

I know this is RC tank warfare and we have all seem to got overly obsessed with trucks Haha, but I have another project for one of these trucks.

I am going to cut one up and turn into a military inspired Rat rod!
Sorry if that offends anyone, but it just has to be done :)

The wing mirrors look good, but when I was in the service the only time I saw mirrors like that was on a truck that was hauling an oversized trailer. Are you going to have a trailer behind that?

Haha. It is true they are a little big. But I am going to make a trailer for this truck.
I would like to be able to tow a tank, but I think I need 6x6 and twin motor drive for that as otherwise the truck will not have enough pulling power.

Just found this winch on eBay, it may just be small enough for the HL trucks...
