Panther G

Post by Davarama »

Hi, been working on my Taigen Panther G and have a few questions. First I'm doing it as an early 1945 model and have bought some Peddinghaus decals for panzer 231 of 11th PD 1945.

Supplied photo shows usual 3 colour ambush scheme but my research suggests this would have been unusual by early 1945, more likely base of dunkelgrun with only one other colour as camo.

Also, when Googleing the same photo is described as "branch" camo and on closeup it looks like ambush camo but with short lines instead of the usual dots. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this a mistranslation? Obviously it's my tank and I can do what I want and I never get too precious about rivet counting but I am genuinely interested in what forum members think.

It also seems like this period camo would be hard edged as opposed to sprayed so I might have to mask or brush paint so again, any thoughts?

I'm well aware of the confusion surrounding paint/camo generally but any immediate thoughts/comments are welcome (apart from the obvious!)

Finally, the tank appears to want to drive in reverse on today's testing, short of rewiring motors, I'm assuming there's nothing I can do to sort this with standard tx? I intend to run it on ibu2u anyway so not really an issue. I had to rewire Stug when I changed gearboxes but these are the ones supplied with the tank.

Cheers, Dava.

Funny about that. My new 4.1 gearboxes were wired backwards I.e. +ve to black.

Can you perhaps post a few pictures for your camo interpretations?

Hi, I've now found a better image of the Peddinghaus Panther and it's just a basic 3 colour camo, no spots or lines at all! I can't find the image I first saw but it definitely had short lines all over it.

Must have been manipulated so I'll just go with the 3 colour. Dava.Image
