HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

That has crossed my mind aswell.
But it would be relative easy to lower the motor/gearbox, and create more healthy driveshaft angles.

I saw that, but I thought I would wait a couple weeks to see if the price comes down. Gearbest still has the military truck for $30 but I see other places are starting to charge more so I might pick up two or three more from gearbest before they raised their price. What I'm really waiting for is the six-by-six.

As long as you don't have to sell off any of the kids or rent out the old lady you're good to go. @) @)

There's been some talk about batteries and possibly using receiver packs, and HK has these on sale for the next week at six bucks (USD, less than 5 pounds)

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-rec ... -nimh.html

I like the little lipos and will stick with those, but some may find this info useful. Those HK flash sales are worth checkin' a time or two each week. They usually run for at least a few days, but some of the really good stuff really is only on sale for one day.

They also have a couple of good looking battery chargers on sale, and I like these little B4s, mainly because they have a rep for being reliable, they're very, very simple and they're only ten bucks. For lipo tank batts they work great and if i need something more serious I have my Imex smart charger.

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-b4- ... ipoly.html

HK also has a better charger on sale in the 20-25 range (again, USD)

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/accuell-s60 ... -plug.html

but I don't have any personal experience with this one, and I don't know if it's good for those in Europe or the UK but it does say it can handle the voltage they have coming out of the wall over there (it says 120 to 240 volts).

That's a good price, too. My first 9X cost me 85 bucks (over 60 pounds). They just had the i6 on sale, too, but it looks like that ended. I thought about picking one up when they were $39.99 USD but I'm sure they'll run the sale again. The best sales are right before and after Christmas, so I'm saving those pennies. 8)

That's great news Max, why should insanity be limited to us few when everyone can join in! :D
What make/model did you order and what cad software do you plan on using? If you have any problems or queries then just shout and there are a few 3d printer users who, I'm sure, will do their best to assist so don't 've shy.

Have lots of fun with your new toy/tool.

Hey Alwyn, I ordered this CR10

https://www.lightinthebox.com/cr-10-3d- ... 1.17.101.0

Black Friday price almost half off.

I'm going to use whatever software you guys are using and don't worry, there ain't no shy in me so prepare to be pestered and peppered with stupid questions. I just know the timing was right with a little bonus from work and the Black Friday sales so I pulled the trigger. Just one more thing I'll get an unexpected education in thanks to my glorious hobby. Makes me wonder how the normal folks live without tracks and radios and boxes full of odds and ends to support the craziness. What is it they say? You have to be crazy to be an RC Tanker, a normal bloke would go insane. @)

And I understand every woman in the UK is pissed today because they don't get all that Black Friday shopping that their American counterparts are enjoying today. Most of 'em don't even know that's why they're pissed, but if the better half seems a bit cranky today that's probably why. You know women and shopping, eh? I never did understand it, especially if they're not looking for an esc or a better scale tire.

So I guess I have a lot of reading to do and some videos to watch. Anybody know any good video tutorials in the "3D printing for Idjits" category? The first thing I'll need to learn is how to copy files from those with more experience than I, then to create my own files and print them. Like I said, I have an education in store. I just hope I didn't get myself in over my head.

But for my stateside brethren this is good news. Think about it. Max has been known to be rather helpful in the past, and now he's got a 3D printer? I think we'll all benefit in this one, and we don't have to get zinged by the international postage thugs. 8)
