HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

OK, here's a bit on what I'm doing with the interior and also some shots with the sound module, on the Spektrum radio.

Yes but the leadtime is silly, i am still waiting mine 35 days on!
Ebay have them going buy it now for cheaper, but i suspect the leadtime will also be silly.
Although in the UK we can now get them for as little as £26 inc postage. Defo worth buying up a few to use for numerous projects like i have seen on this forum :)
HL camo E' Tiger
HL L' Tiger
M26 Pershing WW2 project
Tam K'Tiger project
HL Walker Bulldog project?
HL Panzer IV Munitionsschlepper für Karl-Gerät
HL Sherman project?

1/24 Leopard 2 Custom mod

2 many trucks to list!

Having some fun with the Truck this late evening while I take a rest from the T-34. Took the inside of the cab apart and sanded the cab and the bed. Used some very nice Testors enamel flat olive green.

I think it sprays very nice and even. Image

Major change IMHO with the rims and tires with the paint. Have the sound card already with the larger speaker and the lipo battery coming tomorrow. Esc is mounted so it's coming together.

My plan is to completely remove the small battery tray under the hood and build a nice plasticard engine bay so it will fit the larger battery and extra wiring harness.

The esc mounts under the transmission tunnel nice and neat and out of the way.

I'll put the larger speaker and sound card in the bed under some wooden crates and tarps. The sound card has a built in volume control and choice of ten sounds. Just press the button to change the engine rev. I've found one that sounds good for the truck so I'm happy with it. Thanks for checking it outImage

Looks great Carl, coming together nicely  as you say, the tyres and rims make a big difference to the overall look, the sound emulator works great too and transforms these little trucks

Cheers, Lee.

In case I missed it, have you got a link to that sound card, Carl? Looks very interesting, just wondering about cost. It looks good, but expensive. 8O

Having been a fan of Sketchup for a few years and drawing some 3d models,I decided to have another look at the latest manifestation for my W10 PC.

Lo,and behold, you can now use Sketchup to produce files for 3D printing (using a free download ext) and, convert 2d jpgs into 3d models.

Had a look on Ebay, Sketchup Pro 2017, preactivated licence (one PC),£30 from Canada, electronically delivered.

Will be playing with it for a couple of weeks and, studying some of the YouTube vids. ;D

Hi Gary it's from Banggood and it's relatively cheap about $25.00 US! I ordered it and a Das Mikro setup. Although this is tailored to r/c cars it does have ten different sounds and a couple are very nice for the truck.

I removed the plastic enclosure so I could build a crate for itImage
