1/16 M7 Priest Mid Production SP Howitzer
Hi,
It is a nice autumn here in Quebec. I took my new 1/16 scale M7 Priest, which I have been building in the past 2 months, outside for nice pictures so that I can present it officially here in the Show Off section. You can see the detailed construction story in the Other build section at viewtopic.php?p=218193#p218193.
Following are exterior shots
I made it into an M7 Priest Mid production version, with M3 style suspension, M3 rear deck and 3 piece transmission cover. Components of the model include;
- Heng Long M4A3 Sherman 1/16 tank, $120. No much actually is left of it other than the chassis
- Heng Long gears, electronics, including rotation and elevation units coming with Sherman donor
- Vandra M7 Priest resin conversion kit, $140, highly modified with new interior, rear deck, gun mount and other items
- Shapeways M3 early boogies conversion kit, $50, modified
- Shapeways Sherman early spoked road wheels, $52
- Shapeways M7 Priest gun parts, $19 mainly for sighting apparatus
- Shapeways 105mm Ammo containers, total $45, 30 of them
- Shapeways M4 fuel caps, $5
- Shapeways fire extinguisher, $6, 2 of them, modified
- Mato head and tail lamps, $20
- Mato T-48 plastic/metal tracks and metal sprocket, $30
- Forces of Valor M4A3 spoked idlers, a gift from Sassgrunt
- Tamiya M2 .50 cal machine gun, $7
- M1 carbines from Dioramaparts, $6
- $50 in plasticard, brass rods and other items from the spare box
Interior pictures will be on following post.
Regards, Louis

Such nice photos. The setting is fantastic. Looks like a open field of flowers in Europe

Tanks alot....

Hi,
Here are the pictures of the interior of the fighting compartment and howitzer. A lot of it has been scratched built because the Vandra kit is only a basic one, requiring lot of rework for accuracy and completeness.

Really a magnificent build, I have been following the thread with interest - not even liking M7 Priests!
Excellent!
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!
I'm a happy man.

An eye-popping bit of model building. Beautiful, careful, exacting work lovingly rendered. Many kudos. A fantastic model!
