Re: Creeping Death have built a sound system
the solution was under my nose!!! after testing for a good portion this morning, the gasket material for the speaker was just not doing the job. so I went back and fabricated a box. cured the high end crack and still let me play north of 90 db. so heres the rub, do we build around the stock battery box or make in such a way that the user has to remove the battery box? this would be all henlongs.
Re: Creeping Death have built a sound system
hi cd i would build around battery boxes
as most wouldnt want to remove the batt box as its a lot of work

Just in case anyone didn't see my Tiger thread, here are links to my vids.

Ok, I can afford to spend silly money endlessly pursuing perfection (and I am nowhere near that yet), and I have a pretty good grasp of technology and electronics. However, as previously mentioned, there are plenty of youngsters out there who would love to experiment on their own budget, and who would be more than happy with the CD unit, a Maplins unit, or even a standard HL unit.
If CD have built another 'option' aimed at a specific part of the market, then I am all for it. Did anyone realise that when Elmod started out their sound system was barely audible out of doors? It is sales, investment, and product development that is ongoing that produces results. Even Tamiya had to start somewhere?

Re: Creeping Death have built a sound system
well said Wibbly, nice tank too. we spent alot of time on the sound module. designing the pcb was fun. the unit is fun, maybe to the point where I myself was happy with it. the speaker was just bolted to the grill and it was flexing pretty hard. once boxed it sounded great, I wanted to get a video out but weekdays around here are controlled chaos. the route that we are going to take is to not include a box or speaker. it leaves the door wide open for all those custom tanks. and most of all its going to priced alot cheaper. I'm not sure where we sit in the market, but its the fun factor that has the final word here. i'll get another video up hopefully by this week.

Hi Guys Just like to point out if you change the Heng long speaker for a tamiya on the sound improves ,O.K. its not as good as Tamiya or El-mod but it is better .

OK credit where it's due you have managed to make this sound like a tractor or a boat instead of a moped with a cracked exhaust you are getting there though you are still behind Heng Long who are considered basic

Re: Creeping Death have built a sound system
I thought that the first attempt sounded like someone farting down a drain pipe
this sounds a lot better but as rivetcounter said it is still behind HL by a country mile
