What paint colours did you used for the Jagdpanther?

I've never seen Tamiya XF60, which is supposed to be true to Dunkelgelb, used straight up. Seems that people always mix it with Buff.

Good question. I have a king tiger waiting for a repaint, and I am not beginning until somebody answers that.

I tried XF-60 mixed with Buff on my Tiger............
Too light for me.
Any of my tanks from then on are XF-60 straight.
BUT
The Tamiya rattle can TS-3 is very different in shading when dry to the airbrushed XF-60.
I am assuming those that recommend XF-60 lightened with buff darken their finish with wash, but those that dont wash are left with a very pale/light German Dark Yellow....................................

Thing is, decades of paint references, opinions and theories point one common outcome

German Dark Yellow is consistently inconsistent and almost no two applications are the same.
To many variations of thinning agent, application method, dust coat, time in theatre, exposure to U.V under all of the above criteria

You cant be wrong mate, because no one can say they are right & can produce a silver bullet solution to say otherwise.

Thanks mate, thats what I needed to read. Can you post a photo of any of your tanks with straight dunkelgelb airbrushed?

Its funny you mention the diference. There is a lot of difference between the olive drab spray and xf olive drab paint too.

Jeez thats a ;long way back !
My Jagdpanther and StuG III were base coated with TS3, my Tiger 1 was airbrushed with the buff -mixed XF-60
In all honesty, my PzIV was airbrushed in Desert Yellow and once washed looked more to my eye to be what I imagined a German Dark Yellow would look like.
All are Tamiya colours by the way.

I reckon that if anyone has a definitive narrative of what German Dark Yellow actually is & can prove it.............will be richer than Mig Jiminez

Have you read the dunkelgelb thread in the discussion section? If not, look for it. After reading that you come to that solution: Just do as you like. This is a scale model, or... A three dimensional artwork. Then we are allowed to interpret colors as we like. Those 'scale-theory' enthusiasts do it like that. Color modulation? Same thing. Or how do explain the the framing is darker than the center when it is the outmost part of an object. Have fun

Lol, I am not a rivercounter and I paint the things as I like it more. If I liked the pink, trust me my Köty would be pink.

But just I want it to look cool, and I did not know what looked cooler, straight dunkelgelb or dunkelgelb + buff. Due to Hernann says dg + buff was too bright, I think i will take the sgraight dunkelgelb only route.

I guess you are picking on me , right . Pink would be a quite exaggerated interpretation of yellow

Lol, what I mean is, as far as it looks Ok to my eye, I dont care about historic accuracy.

I have seen some pink with schwarovsky like cristals rc tanks by the way, but a little too gay for me, lol.

Hi.
To those that wanted to know what colours i used they are.

All Tamiya Acrylics
XF 60 dark yellow not mixed with anything.
Xf 67 Nato green
Xf 64 red brown
All air brushed.

Then pastels and model railway weathering paints used

I think it looks ok but without much feedback i dont really know ?...
Lots of viewings but feedback is very poor.
