M10 GMC

Post by Maccrage »

I just received this yesterday. I was originally planning on cannibalizing it to provide details for the turret of my Mato M10. But, after looking at it, I've changed my mind, and decided to build it. I have a Taigen airsoft M4A3 for a doner lower hull. I'll have to convert the backplate to the proper diesel M4A2.

it's a fun kit to build. But it need corrections in a few areas. The main issue for me was the fragility of the thin resin turret and the fact that it is too high. I lowered it a bit by removing a few mm from the bottom and top walls before assembly to the base part of the turret, but it is still sits too high. Do not assume that the interior details parts provided are accurate, they need adjustments to match references, specifically the gun breech and storage boxes on the interior sides of the turret. You will also notice that the rear armored plate of the upper hull is not at the right angle but can be corrected with some work. It will help in the installation of the rear lamps also. Shapeways.com has a few detail parts for it too, such as the missing gun sight and grousers for the hull sides. It is a good base for a fun conversion.
