Interesting tank find on ebay (Pz 4)

Post by Blackadder123 »

Hello,

Found someone selling an old Pz IV model on eBay Kleinanzeigen (eBay for local pick ups). The person describes it to be a Tamiya, but I don't have much experience with Tamiyas so can't say for sure. I don't seem to see any DMD control units, are they meant to be in there? And could anyone tell me what the machinery behind the gearboxes are supposed to be? Either way, for 50 euros it seems like a pretty good deal - But first I'd like to hear the opinion of experts!

Here's the tank: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anz ... 1-249-1867

Any info welcome!

The contraptions immediately behind the gearboxes are the speed controller rheostats. I reckon it's so old it pre-dates the introduction of the DMD.

Wow, it must truly be ancient then. The seller does mention that he inherited it from his (I presume late) uncle (RIP). In which case I think it's probably valued by true Tamiya collectors but not quite the cup of tea for me (your average, casual tanker, lol). Interesting nonetheless.

It looks to me like a Bandai 1:15 tank? The front sprockets look familiar to me...

Hmm, now that you mention it it's a distinct possibility.... I don't remember the Tamiya Pz IV barrel being that oddly short. It seems a tad short.... 8O

Also the proportions look a little cartoonish and I remember from the Bandai Panzer 4 I have it looks very similar plus the tracks do not have pins they clip together

For 50 euros it's still a steal though.

While we're at it folks, the same seller just showed me a Leopard that is for sale. A bit more detective work, shall we?

Is this a Tamiya Leopard? If so, is it a newer version or an older one?
