Welcome to the forum. I am sure once you have got your head round all your kits and are considering a plan of action to bring them to life, you will find ample assistance here.

I should have a good read through the threads about the pros and cons of all metal tanks. I have no personal experience of them but if you are looking to modify/upgrade, then all metal does not seem to be a good idea. Plastic is much easier to cut, drill and otherwise modify.
You will no doubt get people's thoughts who have actual experience.

Hi Chris, Welcome to the Forum
The idea of an out of the box ready to run all metal 1/16 r/c Tank is an expensive but attractive idea BUT only if the Tank is without faults and I cannot think off hand of any all metal Tanks without failings,
Most of us who "Tinker" start with a Metal Hull and a Plastic/ABS Body which as Richard said allows for the fitting of upgrades and when inevitably you c*ck up it is an easy job to fill and fix whereas the repair of a Metal body is very difficult to do without leaving perceptible marks.
Enjoy your Forum and ask all the questions you can think of, as to the Gepard it has to be worth finishing it with a thought to fitting a more up to date control board.
I would expect that Tom H could offer useful advise on the Gepard.
Shaun.
