Heng long truck

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

The provisional release date for the 6x6 is around Christmas time, my guess is that if they are bringing out upgrades then they will do the same as with the tanks, and that an upgraded version of both the 4x4 and 6x6 will be available off the shelf. They are almost certainly going to cost more though.

What about the PAZ looking version of the WPL truck?

All are going to go great for my Scale RC playground, but now i am finding myself wanting to get Jeeps and more tanks!

Will,
what about a WSN/TORRO M16 Half-Track?
It will complement your M26 very nicely,
It mods well and Elmod offer a very nice Control board for it, :lolno:
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

If I could get 2nd hand at a good price yes.
My problem is I trying to keep a little grounded with my tanks. I have several other rc projects and also try to keep a fleet of cars running and get my race car built. I work to a £50 budget on models so I can afford to mod and build them up over time.
A half track would be a great addition though :)
Btw do the half track come with proper rear tracks or rubber band

Proper tracks for an M16 are rubber band. That's what the real thing had, a big giant rubber band track. Strange but true. 8)

I was asked for some measurements on the truck, so I'm posting it here in case anyone else can use the info

My Canadian connection has come through with my truck ( thanks MichaelC! ) surprised the old US Govt hasn't noticed all the packages from Canada and shown up at my house for questioning Image

I must say I'm rather impressed with the basic design of this truck. The tires are a bit too modern off road for me but will work for now. Metal frame is very cool. Image

The drivetrain is going to need metal upgrades for sure as I see the dogbones are plastic and these always tend to break with hard driving ( from my off road RC racing experiences in the past). Front end as currently constructed is very loose and I will upgrade with some small rubber bushes and tighten it up with some metal suspension bits.

The front and rear diffentials look very neat with the Bolt style screws on the covers.

While I look at this I have so many ideas going through my head. The rear bed replaced with some metal deck and wooden sides possibly.... A metal frame and canvas cover to hide my electronics... Hmmm

There must be a very similar truck available that this is based off of that has some hop up parts for sale that we can incorporate?

On another note....

Someone with a very bad disposition has found his way into the cab of my truck.....

I trimmed about a half inch off the bottom of the Heng Long tanker figure and he fits rather niceImage

Cheers

Carl, the one that this one is copied off is HC4. Just google HC4 RC truck and you will see it. It is however in 1/10 scale so I don't think you can rip off any parts......
