Tamiya Germany's import regulations

Post by Woz »

Just been browsing ebay and came across this-
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Rare-TAMIYA-1-16 ... SwHMJYJmjZ

Then noticed that in the listing it says this
*Please note we can't send this item to EU countries due to Tamiya Germany's import regulations.

Anyone know why Tamiya Germany's import regulations mean the rest of the EU can't get stuff.

Pure guesswork, but it sounds like Tamiya have done an exclusive deal with a German importer.

But don't other EU countries have Tamiya importers? why is it a deal with a German importer means the rest of the EU can't get stuff.

Some german shops won't ship abroad. Model speigel won't send electric kits to U.K.

But this is a ebay seller in Japan who can't ship to the EU because of Tamiya Germany. They'll ship Tamiya stuff to European countries that aren't in the EH and they can ship non Tamiya stuff to the EU.

Mick.
Those were my thoughts. For a definitive answer, you would have to contact the seller to ask them why.

Maybe its because goods from china come to Europe through Germany. (At least all the tracked 3d printer parts I get from China seem to go through Germany).

So if it's prohibited in Germany then the rest of the EU can't get it.

The hobby co is the UK distributor.

That ad seems strange as it's a 25-30 year old model, not a new full option one. Also plenty of other distributors will ship to the UK.
