Cheap lathe for Modelling!!

OK, its not very good quality. Lots of plastic so I don't think it will last very long. But At least it serves as a cheap and small Drill press. I tested and it can drill metal RC tank parts. So good for small work. Those industrial lathe/drill press too expensive for me.

Yes, the motor is only 60W. Not powerful. I do have a 650W electric drill but thats too powerful for modelling stuff.

Eg. Drill barrel, drive sprockets to enlarge the hole or wheels. Etc....

I did purchase those drill press and you can place the electric drill on it. But its hard to operate. The drill spins too fast. I prefer something really slow.

For this, I actually going to install a motor speed controller. Then make it really slow.

YOu guys are really fortunate!! Housing in my country is very expensive!! I live in a small apartment with my parents. No garage or anything. I have to do everything in my bedroom on my computer desk. So, everything needs to be small. lol.

I cant say that I am really keen on the name "JANICE" still it beats "JAUNDICE" but to the point,
The indexing table does allow the Drill bit to be exactly centred which could only be done with similar accuracy and ease if I were using a Pin Vise.
It makes a pillar drill stand far more useful and opens it up to wider engineering prospects.

Thanks for the advice guys!! Now I know what to get next for my workbench!!

I did try drilling a 5mm hole on the HL King Tiger drive sprocket. The motor is really underpowered!! lol....I have to go really slow and put a little oil to reduce friction.

Btw, I am a complete noob when it comes to such machines. Never seen or use lathe etc... before. My daily job is IT so I face computers all the time....lol

Btw, what is index table? I google and it looks like some rotating table.What is it used for?

Hi, It is advertised on E-BAY as a "Mini Multi-function working table/Milling Machine",
But an indexing Table is far more accurate,
It is a Bi -Directional table that bolts to a Pillar Drill base,
By bolting a Machine Vise onto the table it is a very easy task to move a work piece in the Vise to an exact centre spot beneath the drill bit by moving the table using the hand wheels on the indexing table.
Less than £30 well spent.

I bought a "Right angle drill attachment" for £8 from---

This gives me the flexibility to turn soft metals and wood in the fashion of a lathe just by lightly holding the drill attachment in the vise.

So happy today. Finally i have tools to drill holes and mill. Previously my "mill" consist of file, cutting blades. Drill "press" is just a hand held drill. I could never drill holes straight and never saw straigh as well. Its just so frustrating.
