I'd love to use something similar inside the engine hatch on my KT, but has anyone seen one with the correct airfilters? The V12 Maybach HL230 Had different shaped filters, I believe.

Early Tiger II had twin round filters same as the Tiger I latter Tiger II has square filters same as the Panther, so yes it's correct for a Tiger II so long as it's an early version

I wanted to do an Ardennes KT, so im guessing from my limited knowledge that they were early versions?

Well, I guess i'll be a tad liberal with the truth then. 
If I could find a late KT engine in 1/16 that would be great. I sadly don't have the skill yet to scratch build one.

Didn't someone else make a scale 1;16 die cast Maybach a few years back? I think it came as a part of a larger ready to run 1:16 Tiger I kit? Thought I saw a separate engine in it's box on eBay a while ago. Went for a steep price.

I like the idea of an engine in the compartment of the Tiger I. With the HL stuff under the lid, there is a bit of room to work with for a scale engine, but I am afraid if I ever upgrade the electronics, it would have to be an extremely small, rugged system, or the scale engine would have to go.

Here's a thought for "running engine wiggle" I have been playing with in my head for a while, but not yet formulated details on the "how exactly to" part.

The basic idea was to somehow couple the front of the Maybach to the HL smoker. Then, rather than hard mounting the smoker to the hull, mount it with soft springs. Something like those little tiny ones that show up in some retractable ball point pens. When that little piston starts running on the smoker, it has quite a shake. so I thought why not try and tame it somewhat and pass it directly on to a scale Maybach. If one upgraded to a proportional smoker, the amount of engine wiggle would also become proportional.

As I said, it's just an idea at this point and I am not yet certain it's workable, or just another rum induced fantasy.

Late breaking thought:  Just recently I passed through an internet site that had a lot of photos of a Tiger II. It was non-RC, but one of these totally details kits and it had the late issue Maybach and I think even the rads and blowers. Might have been 1:35th...

The Tiger II engine hatch is a lot smaller, so less of the engine is one show, meaning i'd only need the top third/half maybe. I'm going for a Tamiya KT, so i'll move the speaker over a tad (was going to upgrade it anyway) and mount it there.

The idea of using th smoker is genius! I was going to try the idea in the thread that 971wright posted, using the vibration motor from a joypad.
The diecast engine was from the forces of valor tiger 1. A bit expensive for the engine. I was going to use the verlinden kit. It's 1:15 but the amount you'll see it will be ok.

I know it'll be the incorrect engine, but unless I can source a Tiger II engine in 1:16, it'll have to do.

If anyone knows where to find a better engine, let me know!
