Tamiya IS-2 with IBU3

Post by tomhugill »

This one has been a long time comming. Having had a misadventure getting a warranty return on the tamiya electrics, I replaced them short term with ones from a Pershing. Having a spare ibu3 I figured it logical to install it in the is-2. To facilitate this a rewire was required. New motor cables, rotation and elevation connectors etc. I also decided to add servo recoil and an led flash though.
Took a while to get the sound and drive dialed in but I think it was worth it!

Tom!,
Very, very, very, nice work there. Especially sorting out all of the electrics. The vehicle commands attention and has lovely detail and paint.. A good turn of speed and excellent sounds make the complete tank.
regards,
Painless

Engine sounds are niceee...cannon sounds a little weak tho, I was disappointed with the cannon sound with my ibu kv sound set, so I switched the cannon for the K/T..much more meaty.

Hey Jake, there was method behind that madness. I used the 120mm leopard cannon as it's quieter than the others. That meant I could crank the volume without having the cannon distort horribly.

Yeah, I'll get some taken and uploaded this evening. The photos when I finished building her weren't that good so I'll get some more.

Mick.
Hey Mick, no commander comes with the kit. The one I'm using is from Ausf (a member on here I believe), he's a fantastic sculpt, made for the IS-2

Hi Tom, that looks and sounds fantastic!  When you do your close up pics can you please do a couple of the front glacis and driver hatch area and also the rear of the upper hull, it would help me enormously with my build.
