On the Tarr I keep it about half filled..and that lasts pretty long..you can fill it as long as it is under the element.
But half usually good mark. You can order more wicks..which seem to work best..though you can use any heat resistant
wick really just something to get the oil to the resistor -that won't burn up from the heat. But as long as you don't run it dry should be fine for a long time!

Smells better too, only problem, it can remind one of the good times when tanks weren't so much needed as a distraction. . . . . ;)

:D Mick.
The thing is, from what I've seen in videos, baby oil produces quite “wispy“ smoke that find to be slightly unrealistic.
The 'whispy' depends largely on the pressure the fan can exert, and the length of the tubing.

I use baby oil in all of the smokers, and discovered that -especially with the Tarr-smokers, that a narrower exhaust opening makes for a nice stream of smoke without whispy-ness. In my Königstiger even a bit too much with its last-gen smoker.

Really thick smoke can be had by using baby oil in a 12v smoker with a separate battery. But it makes smoke alarms go off.. :p

Heng Long's smoker fluid stinks quite unpleasant too, contrary to baby oil..

Hmmm........ Yeah.... Theoretically, any oil that is chemically volatile enough and doesn't attack plastic can be used.

My locos smoke using a 50/50 mix of citronella/barbeque lighter fluid :

They will also work with baby oil and the oil the manufacturer (Lehmann Gross Bahn) supplies.
