IS2 Scratch Build

After all the excitement with the turret, it's back to the chassis.

With changing to the metal IS2 sprockets I needed to revisit the sprocket cover design and reprint and here it is

and the real thing


Now I just need to get everything painted and assembled.

Chassis is prepped and a quick coat of paint so it doesn't look too frankentank (final paint when it's finished). Painted the sprockets and mounted the return roller mounts.



Coming along, I've got to paint and assemble the roadwheels, as they would be a nightmare to paint after assembly!

Well done
The prints of the tower looked terrible, but you did a great job with this problem. Personally, I recommend 3d prints of laser sintered powders (SLS method). I have printed virtually the entire model in this way. Quality and durability are incomparable to FDM printing.

Thanks UZI, I can only dream of having technical resources like yours and my £300 printer does it's little best, not very ably assisted by my semi-competent operation. Your build is superb and the print quality is incredible, well done.

I think what we loose in all of this amazing work and stressful printing is once the "dust settles" and all the prints are done and every bit is sanded and filled and resanded....

The damn thing actually has to run and replicate the full size subject like Mr Alwyn's Nashorn that a purchased. So with this said its an incredible engineering feat to make this difficult process come to life as my Nashorn kit has that Mr Alwyn designed. I can't wait to see this build moving and rumbling about!

Printing to cool stuff makes it easy to build. The first model of the tank I made by means of classical methods, that is by hand, lasted nearly four years. The second model I tested in printing, the design took several months and printing three days. There is great potential in this method, but so far it requires a lot of manual work to improve the printouts. And these costs, unfortunately, everything I commissioned a specialist 3D printing company, and a lot of it costs. But what will not do to fulfill the dream

As per the famous saying by Hannibal Smith of the A Team "I love it when a plan comes together"

It has taken 128 pieces of 3d printing but we have an IS2 chassis. The pieces were painted and assembled, then put onto the chassis, I only had to take out 1 link each side fom the KV1 tracks, and there we have it.

and absolutely to scale. Phew!!

All I have to do now is build the upper hull, finish the turret, and then do the electronics - Simples!

Now you're bringing back some memories the great George Peppard I would guess that when everything's printing well and they come out so nice you can bring back some Hannibal Smith but when the prints goes wrong you can become Hannibal Lecter
