Cromwell upper on an T-34 lower o.O

Post by Silk »

Hi guys,

I heard that some of you have put the upper from the Cromwell ,which is chris3 selling, on the t-34 lower/hull.

Did anyone of you has pictures from it, or an manual how to do that?

Cause i am thinking of building me a cheap exotic tank, and i think, that could be the best way for it ( or do ya have an better suggestion? )

Greetings Frank

Macman, a member here built a Chris Ludwig Cromwell back in 2015. It used T34 wheels, and a suspension system derived from the HL tiger 1, but otherwise the lower hull was actually from the Ludwig Kit.

Another member, Michael C, used a T34 lower hull under his Ludwig Comet kit, and not the Cromwell version. Maybe this is where there's a little confusion. The Comet kit is very similar to the Cromwell one, and they share many parts; but they are not the same length.

Here is my Ludwig Comet which uses the Heng Long T-34 lower with Leo wheels.

No it was pretty easy. You have to remove the T34 front lower plate but basically that's it. The idlers for the Comet I used a set of mod ZTZ-99 idlers. They are quite similar once you grand out the ridges on the side. The only trick is you do have to come up with your own quick release to attach the upper to the lower.

I didn't want to use the Ludwig lower because I want something that is more robust, and the Heng Long T-34 lower is an excellent runner. I would only use Ludwig's lower if it is a shelf queen like my E-100. I need my tanks to run nicely on the battle field.

These guys are pretty good if you don't mind waiting. Tank Army is also good but check the postage. Also if you need to grind down the notch plastic might be easier.
