Pair of stug III's
Here's my reworked Stug III, finished with generous help from the forum(Thanks, Dava). Still have to add the metal hatches to the front, but it's almost there. I was going for a kind of first snowfall of the year look, and this was my first attempt at using ground up salt for snow. Came across a picture of a jagd IV with this type camo and really liked it, so I ran with it.

Here's my buddies stug. Finished it up a bit ago. Kind of went for that same unit look.
And a close up of the stowage. I really liked the way the barb wire turned out. Bill

The secret is.......
Q-Tips.
Lots and lots of Q-Tips!
It was really pretty east. The base color is Rustolium Sand, over sprayed with Krylon clear flat, it darkens it down a bit. Then make lots of dots. I've never done this type using the round dot stickers for masks, but it seems like it'd be a lot easier.

Re: Pair of stug III's
Thanks for the compliments, guys.
I borrowed the wife's coffee grinder and ground up the salt first. When you dump it out it looks exactly like snow. For the glue I used some water based white glue, thinned down just a bit. This glue is not like the regular white glue, it dries crystal clear and stays slightly flexible, kind of like silicon caulk. I use this stuff to attach most of my stowage as it does have a bit of flex, but can be removed if needed. I picked it up at a local craft store and not really sure what brand name to look for across the pond.
It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, and it's pretty easy to remove if you're not happy with the results. I'm sure it'll wear off eventually, but it's cheap enough to replace!

Re: Pair of stug III's
The logs are trimmings from one of the wife's yard plants. Crepe Mertel is what it's called. Not sure about the spelling on that! She cuts it back every so often and I root through the trimmings. They really look the part for scale logs.
The barb wire was made from a couple of different wires. The main wire is the stuff used to hang picture frames up. The barbs are made out of a smaller single wire. I made a frame up to string the main wire on , then wrapped the single wire. I split a small piece of bamboo skewer part way, kind of like a clothes peg. Put this on the main wire to make a half loop around, then wrapped around the main wire 2 or 3 times, then moved the peg and made another loop on the opposite side of the wire. After it's all done, you've got a straight wire with a lot of little loops on it. I took a pair of heavy scissors and cut the top part of the loops off, and whammo! Instant barb wire.( Or should I say Bob's your uncle?)
Does any of this make any sense? If not I'll make up a short length and post some pictures in the tips section. Might have to do that anywat.
