Yip, a real hassle to get working, and I've not got mine right yet.
Hindsight..............buy an aftermarket board or an H/L tank with the thing set up & take it all out to transplant it.

Surely for the price of buying a new (surplus) tank you'd be better off buying an aftermarket control board, though? Even if you don't fancy ponying up the dosh for a new set, second-hand IBUs and Clarks come up pretty often around here.

Plus, if you get an aftermarket board, it can be made battle ready. The new H/L version is still not compatible with the range of I.R. battle systems out there.
Not worth the hassle, and not worth the limitations.
Clark, IBU, Elmod............best way to go.
