Hi from East Anglia

I'm looking forward to learning a lot from the obvious expertise and skills I've noted here, in particular with the old Heng Long Tiger 1 that I've just bought in a yard sale - apparently unopened! I'm a retired British Army officer, with a life-long interest in armoured vehicles, mostly tracked, and have been a modeller for over sixty years [yes, I'm old]. My other interests are shooting - see Youtube tac's guns - and live steam in the garden trains - Youtube again - tac's trains. So my first project will be to bring this older model into the 21st century with the help of all the previous posts.

Welcome to this unique portal!. I think it won't be long before you discover that many contributors here are no longer spring chickens, so to speak, and age (Kommt Zeit kommt Rat...) is probably an advantage here. Like you, I enjoy a spot of shooting; especially WW2 weaponry. In fact, I initiated a couple of threads here on that particular theme. The problem is, though, with stringent UK firearms restrictions (I even need a licence for my Walther Air Rifle in Scotland..), I have to swan off to Switzerland, and my boy's collection, to indulge that hobby. Mind you, I like the Swiss, and their scenery is almost as appealing as the Highlands
We like pictures here, and will look forward to some of yours; the steam fans especially. Just reccied 'tac's guns:' definitely my kind of web page; but 'Forgotten Weapons' produces fascinating and erudite reviews..

Needless to say, a Russian fan of steam has already done it on Youtube! I've forgotten his name, but if you put in steam-powered tank I guess you might hit it.

They look fun, and with the Mamod & Wilesco boilers/stationary engines not too impossible. Only (parts) problem now will be getting tank hulls with clutch systems.

My late foster-mother (long story..)remained steadfastly 40, until her best by date of 82 years came up, and she promptly fell off the perch. Well.., the sofa, to be exact. These days (and it is a shock to see that stranger in the mirror), I describe myself as 'new to being old'. Formerly,I'd describe myself as no longer a 'Poulet de Printemp' (being fond, as I was, of Miles Kington's 'Franglais' books )..
Well, Doc your springs may lack a certain elasticity, but your grey matter certainly functions as it should...and as for those little engineering tweeks, bravo. Your hand/eye co-ordination looks 100%.
Now back to steam nostalgia, and wicked weaponry!.

Astounding! I must put you in touch with my son. He's a massive fan of Gun technology (as witness the CJ Chivers 'The Gun; the story of the AK-47", he sent me for my birthday! ..) and history. I bought him a PPK (German made not US)
for his birthday. You get the picture though.
I'm in the middle of several things at the minute, but here's a link to a gun thread I posted previously. I have access to the following Swiss guns: K31 (absolute beauty..); Sig SG552; SiG P226; SiG P220 with custom grip and K1911.
