Wondering about Board swaps
Ive been thinking I really like the sound on the newer Heng Longs with the dual sound. Would it be possible to swap out the board and plug everything back in to my Taigen tank? would it work plug and play? Or would there be more steps? Or should I just look into the other boards like a Clark Or TK?? im not sure about the boards thats a bit too advance for me but wondering about options and process.

The newest Heng Long system needs a little bit of rewiring to get it to work properly, a couple of people on the forum have done so. If you're not comfortable with that, most of the aftermarket electronic boards are completely plug-and-play.

Yep..apart from the MFU and Transmitter, you'll also need the new 9-pin hull connector. Using the new connector will mean a slight amount of rewiring, as Ram has noted. I put the new connector in my Cromwell project, and it's not a very complex procedure; so if you're up for a bit of a challenge, and can make sense of the existing wiring (diags available here on the forum), go for it!

Yeah I am not confident at all with any re wiring I would do more harm than good, what would be the simplest beginner set up in your opinion? I know for sure I would need a board and a new controller?Raminator wrote:The newest Heng Long system needs a little bit of rewiring to get it to work properly, a couple of people on the forum have done so. Re: Wondering about Board swaps
After seeing all the hassle Mr Herman had with the new H/L board I think I'd give it a miss too. I'd go the IBU route super simple to install and Ian's a top chap if you have any probs.

I agree with Jake on this one. I recently acquired a very nice M1A2 and it has the newest version of the Ibu2U from Ian and it's top notch and super easy to setup. Highly recommendedJake79 wrote:After seeing all the hassle Mr Herman had with the new H/L board I think I'd give it a miss too. I'll second (or third) the IBU2; it's at a pretty sweet spot in terms of functionality and price, plus it has the benefit of having the same connections as the stock H/L electronics. All you have to do is unplug the RX18 and plug the IBU2 in, and you'll be up and running without any troubles.
